On Saturday the 3rd of October both of our riders, Keagan Bontekoning and CP Van Wyk took to the start line in Hartbeespoort ready to tackle their first 100miler race or 162km race.
The race started very fast with CP turning the pace up on the front, a few km 2 riders broke away and started gaining time on the chasing peloton. CP and Keagan managed to find themselves in a group of 6 riders willing to work together to close down the deficit but a wrong turn saw the front bunch of riders having to do 8km extra.
The group came back together and the racing started from scratch again.
Going through the halfway mark Keagan managed to get into the lead break away of 4 riders which worked well together to make up time on the rest of the riders.
Tactics played a big role and Keagan was dropped from the lead group and rode on his own in 4th until 20km to go where a few riders caught him where he finished in 9th position.
CP managed to ride very consistent and safe throughout the race to finish not far behind keagan in 10th position.
It was a great day of racing out for the team.
