On Saturday the 10th of October Keagan Bontekoning and CP Van Wyk headed to Bela-Bela, Limpopo to take part in the 5th leg of the Nissan Trailseeker Series held at Sondela.
The flat and fast route of 68km and 600m of ascent meant that it was going to be a very tactical and tough race.
The race started off very fast, fighting for position and single track made the racing very tough.
A large group of riders stayed together for the first 15km but then up a short steep climb Keagan attacked and made the group smaller to 5 riders which were later on joined by another 5 riders. The group stayed together throughout the few short steep climbs and headed toward the finish. The fast open roads made for many attacks to try get away but no rider could make a break and the group of 10 riders came in to sprint at the line with Keagan finishing in 8th just 9 seconds off the win.
CP was feeling under the weather so he took a more relaxed ride and enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere of the race.
Next up the team looks forward to racing the Sabie Experience Stage race in November
