CP was first introduced to mountain biking in 2009 when his high school entered the Spur Schools MTB Series. It started as just a hobby until, at the age of 17, he decided to dedicate his focus to training and racing. CP spent his Grade 11 and 12 years taking part in races across the country.
During his student years at the University of Stellenbosch, where he studied, CP juggled between road racing and mountain biking. His highlights included winning the USSA Cycling Tour, 6th Place at the University World Champs and 12th place in the final stage of the 2018 Cape Epic.
CP joined the Insect Science team in 2019, after racing the Cape Epic alongside Alan Gordon, where they finished inside the top 10 of the African Riders Competition.
“The best part of cycling for me is all the great places we get to see, friends we meet on the bike and the unique memories created along the way, and experiencing them with like-minded friends and competitors.
I believe my bike has played a massive part in making me who I am today and I am very grateful to be able to race in the colours of Insect Science, which shares a similar passion for our sport.”
